[Blogs] True Colours

Do the colours of Gordon Brown's ties tell us anything about the man himself, his moods, or the policies he is formulating? Going back a few years, Brown was always a man to wear a good scarlet-red tie, in keeping with the colour of the Labour Party. But then he changed to wearing pink ties, and rumours abounded that this was some sort of odd attempt to 'soften' his image for delicate middle-England types, who might have thought he was Khrushchev in disguise or something like that. Now, though, the colour of choice seems to be light blue- can anything be made of this? A deliberate two-fingered salute to David Cameron? A sign of moderation in policies? Or just the latest fashion statement from Westminster?
<A

I'm actually quite pleased with this result as she was my second preference- she said a lot of things I agreed with over the course of the DL contest, and, although it didn't enter my mind during voting, it's also good to have a gender-balanced team at the top.
[Blogs] If this were true...

Some light relief for everyone here on Labourhome after all the leadership/ deputy leadership arguing. I recently came across this, erm, "interesting" bit of information on Wikipedia...
Under the entry for dear old Derek Hatton:

"It was reported in the Liverpool Daily Post in May 2007 that Hatton has stated that he has recently rejoined the Labour Party and that he intends to seek selection as a parliamentary candidate in the North West. Hatton also says that his ambition is to be Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and that he would run for the office in the summer in the unlikely event of him being able to enter parliament via a by-election. Hatton made clear that he is no longer a Trotskyist, but maintains that he remains firmly on the left of the party, expressing his belief that Labour has to abandon 'New Labour' ideology (or "neo-Tory", as Hatton puts it) and return to its traditional values."

Now, I haven't actually been able to find said report if the Daily Post, which leads me to believe that someone is taking the Michael, but if it was actually true... my God!

<A
